SILVERSTONE PARK
How Silverstone Park elevated their corporate party with Indi Local's street food procurement services
Silverstone Park is a globally recognised campus of innovation, home to more than 90 technology-led engineering firms, many of which contribute to Formula 1, including teams, suppliers, and automotive technology companies. The occupiers benefit from a centrally located environment designed to maximise productivity, collaboration, and community.
For its first-ever Christmas corporate party, Silverstone Park set out to deliver more than a standard corporate lunch. The goal was to create an inclusive, memorable experience for hundreds of employees across the campus.
Indi Local was brought in as Silverstone Park’s street food partner, tasked with delivering a diverse food offering to enhance the guest experience.
STREAMLINING THE STREET FOOD CATERING EXPERIENCE
From the outset, Indi Local’s primary responsibility was to:
-
Curate a lineup of street food vendors with all required trading documentation, certifications, and food safety compliance
-
Ensure the food offering met dietary requirements and preferences, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options
-
Select vendors capable of serving a large corporate crowd efficiently
Several operational, budgetary, and sustainability considerations also needed to be addressed:
Budget Management

The client had a set, pre-paid budget to cover meals for all attendees. This meant that we needed to carefully balance cuisine variety, vendor minimum order requirements and service capacity without exceeding the client’s budget.
Weather-driven
Adjustments

Rainy weather in the days leading up to the event required a change to the original outdoor service plan. Table service was not viable due to staffing costs and logistical complexity, and bulk serving was unsuitable for made-to-order vendor menus.
The solution needed to deliver freshly prepared meals efficiently, maintain quality, and keep guests comfortable indoors without increasing operational burden or budget.
Fair Allocation

At a multi-vendor event, it’s impossible to accurately predict which dishes will be most popular. To maximise guest satisfaction, Silverstone Park needed flexibility in how orders were allocated across vendors, ensuring attendees could choose what they wanted to eat rather than being limited by rigid allocations.
Corporate Sustainability Objectives

As a forward-looking organisation, Silverstone Park prioritises corporate sustainability and responsible practices. The event needed to reflect these values by:
-
Minimising food miles and supporting local vendors
-
Reducing waste through lean, data-driven catering
-
Promoting ethical sourcing and supplier compliance
THE SOLUTION
By combining technology with careful planning, Indi Local addressed potential challenges with scalable, easy-to-manage solutions, ensuring all the guests at Silverstone Winter Party had a great street food experience.
1. Simplified Procurement
We serve as the single point of contact, which meant that all vendor payments were consolidated into a single, easy-to-manage invoice, removing administrative burden and the complexity of dealing with multiple suppliers.
Organisers could access all supplier information, including trading documents, food safety certifications, menus, and reviews, through the Indi Local Event Management Portal, providing full visibility and compliance assurance.
Moreover, only vendors with 5-star hygiene ratings and a proven track record of service excellence were selected to trade at the event, ensuring that all suppliers met the highest standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.

2. Blended Pricing Model
A blended pricing model meant that Silverstone were able to account for a single price per head, and ensured budget allocation was simplified and fair for all parties.
A floating-split allocation was used to ensure vendors’ minimum order requirements were met while maintaining flexibility for guests. This allowed more popular vendors to earn additional revenue if demand for their menu items was high, without exceeding the organiser’s overall budget.
3. Seamless QR Ordering
To enhance the guest experience and remove logistical stress, a QR code ordering system was implemented.
Guests could scan codes around the venue to browse menus, place orders, and receive notifications when their food was ready. This eliminated long queues, kept service efficient, and allowed attendees to enjoy the entertainment inside the marquee while ordering at their own pace, only walking to collect their meals once they were ready.

4. Sustainable Local Sourcing
In line with Silverstone Park’s sustainability goals, all vendors were sourced locally around Northampton, reducing food miles and Scope 3 carbon emissions.
More importantly, Indi Local actively promotes authentic, independent street food vendors over large chain catering, helping corporates support local businesses and showcase diverse, high-quality cuisine at events.

“Indi Local did a superb job, our occupiers absolutely loved the event and we were even told by one colleague at a high profile F1 company it was the best Christmas Party they’d been to!”
